The 4th Gastroenterology Educational Program brings the Saudi Gastroenterology Association’s Eastern Region educational series to Dammam on 30–31 October 2026. Held in person at the Main Auditorium of King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Dammam, the programme offers two focused days of invited-faculty lectures for gastroenterology fellows, GI specialists and medical residents. It combines hepatology, advanced endoscopy, motility, inflammatory bowel disease and general gastroenterology within a single educational meeting.
Friday’s programme begins at 09:00 with Dr. Mohammed AlJawad reviewing viral hepatitis, metabolic liver diseases and pregnancy-related liver diseases. Dr. Noora Alfaraj follows with immune-mediated liver diseases and acute liver failure, while Dr. Hadi Kuriry addresses acute-on-chronic liver failure, complicated cirrhosis and transplantation. After the lunch and prayer break, the afternoon turns to advanced luminal endoscopy with Dr. Raed AlGhazal, advanced biliary disorders with Dr. Mohammad Albeshir and an introduction to third-space endoscopy with Dr. Ghoneem Alsayed. Dr. Ghadah Ismail closes the teaching day with motility disorders at 16:00–17:00.
Saturday shifts to inflammatory bowel disease and general GI. Dr. Turki AlAmeel discusses Crohn’s disease from diagnosis to management, followed by Dr. Eman Al Sulais on ulcerative colitis, dysplasia and perioperative care. Dr. Dimah AlAsker covers IBD beyond the gut, including extraintestinal manifestations and pregnancy. Following the midday break, Dr. Mohammed AlOmar presents esophageal and gastric disorders, Dr. Jehad AlSihati covers small and large bowel disorders, and Dr. Jaffar Baqshi discusses oncology- and endocrine-related GI disorders. Teaching concludes at 16:00.
The organizing and scientific committees are the SGA Eastern Region Working Group. The published learning objectives emphasize diagnosis, management and recognition of the clinical conditions represented in the programme. This is a didactic lecture course; no separate hands-on workshops or abstract submissions are advertised. Takeda is named as the programme’s supporter.
Registration is SAR 300 and includes access to both days and a Certificate of Attendance issued by the Saudi Gastroenterology Association. Online payment or bank transfer is offered through the official registration page.
