The First Pediatric Hematology–Oncology Conference for the Asir Region brings two full scientific days to Citadines Abha on 11–12 September 2026, convening leading consultants, researchers and clinicians from across Saudi Arabia and the wider region. Held under the Shiryan Association in collaboration with the Saudi Pediatric Hematology Oncology Society (SAPHOS), the meeting is chaired by Dr. Badriah Al-Asmari as Conference President.
The programme is built around the conditions that dominate paediatric haematology–oncology practice in the Kingdom. Sessions cover the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment and supportive care across childhood cancers and blood disorders, with dedicated attention to sickle cell disease and the haemoglobinopathies that carry a particularly high burden in the southern regions. Expert-led talks address emerging therapies and how they translate into everyday clinical decision-making, while multidisciplinary discussions deliberately cross into radiology, pathology, nursing and psychosocial care so that the whole treating team is represented in the room.
A separate strand of the agenda is devoted to patient-centred care — communication with families, long-term follow-up and survivorship — reflecting the organisers' emphasis on compassionate care alongside scientific progress. Case-based discussion and panel formats are used throughout to keep the content practical for consultants, fellows, residents, specialised nurses and pharmacists working in paediatric oncology units.
The conference is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties for 15 CME hours (accreditation number ACA-20260002545), and attendance certificates are issued to all registered delegates. Beyond the science, the meeting is positioned as a network-building moment for the Asir region: a first annual edition intended to establish a recurring regional forum where paediatric haematology–oncology teams from Abha, Khamis Mushait and the surrounding governorates can meet the national centres, compare practice and build referral relationships.
Registration and the full scientific programme are published on the official conference website.
