    About this event

Ensuring patient safety is a fundamental responsibility of every healthcare institution. As healthcare systems become increasingly complex, patient safety has evolved into an essential discipline aimed at reducing risks and preventing patient harm. This SCFHS-accredited on-demand course from Virtual Medical Academy is designed to support healthcare professionals and organisations in delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality patient care consistently. It provides practical knowledge and evidence-based strategies that contribute to improving healthcare outcomes and strengthening a culture of safety across clinical settings.

Delivered entirely in Arabic through pre-recorded video clips, the course is self-paced — participants can access lessons any time between 11 June 2026 and 6 June 2027 and complete pre- and post-course quizzes to measure knowledge improvement. Learners earn 5 SCFHS CPD hours upon successfully passing the final exam and attending at least 75% of lectures. A completion certificate is issued at no extra cost.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to define patient safety and medical errors, explain their importance, build a culture of safety, identify common types of medical errors and strategies to minimise them, apply the Swiss Cheese Model and IHI Global Trigger Tool, and recognise and document errors made by staff. Content covers patient safety principles, culture of safety, methods to assess and improve organisational safety culture, patient safety goals and safe practices, medication errors and mitigation strategies, and adverse event management.

The course is delivered by Mr. Naif Dakhilallah Albalawi (RN, MSN, CPHQ, CPPS, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt) and Mr. Mohammed Almutairi (PhD candidate in Philosophy of Nursing, CPHQ, TOT, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt). Ideal for nurses, allied health staff, quality and patient-safety officers, pharmacists, physicians, and healthcare administrators.
