Objectives

Define pain and describe its physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms
Differentiate between acute and chronic pain, and classify pain by etiology
Perform a comprehensive pain assessment using validated pain scales
Describe the pharmacology and indications of pain management medication
Identify the role of balanced nutrition in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight
Discuss barriers to weight management, emotional eating and sustainable positive habits

Target audience: medical staff, anaesthesia, nursing administration and education, pain management and wound care nursing, and pharmacy staff.
