ESC Congress 2027, the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology, takes place from 27 to 30 August 2027 in Milan, Italy. The destination and dates are confirmed on the ESC's official future congress destinations page, following ESC Congress 2026 in Munich, Germany (28–31 August 2026).
ESC Congress is the largest cardiovascular meeting in the world and the annual reference point for the specialty. Each edition is built around the release of new ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines and a heavily attended late-breaking science programme in which practice-changing randomised trials and major registry analyses are presented for the first time, alongside simultaneous publication in leading journals. The scientific programme spans the full breadth of cardiovascular medicine, including acute and chronic coronary syndromes, heart failure, arrhythmias and electrophysiology, valvular and structural heart disease, cardiovascular imaging, hypertension, preventive cardiology, cardio-oncology, adult congenital heart disease, thrombosis and cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, plus growing tracks in digital health, artificial intelligence and data science.
The congress serves the whole ESC community: the society's associations, councils and working groups each contribute programming, and dedicated content is provided for nurses and allied professions through ACNAP, for trainees and early-career cardiologists through career development sessions, and for researchers through abstract and clinical case submission tracks. Guideline sessions are typically paired with practical implementation workshops, so delegates can translate new recommendations into local protocols.
ESC Congress is delivered in hybrid format, with online access to much of the scientific programme and post-congress content hosted on ESC 365, the society's knowledge hub — valuable for departments in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf that send a small delegation but want wider team access to the science.
Milan is well connected by direct flights from the Gulf and hosts large-scale congresses regularly, making travel and accommodation planning straightforward. Programme highlights, abstract submission windows, key deadlines and registration fee tiers are announced progressively; the ESC invites clinicians to subscribe to congress updates to receive them first. Cardiologists planning their 2027 educational calendar should treat these dates as fixed and book early, as ESC Congress consistently draws well over 30,000 registered participants.
