The British Geriatrics Society Autumn Meeting 2026 is held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham, with the main programme running 11–13 November 2026 and the Geriatrics 4 Trainees (G4T) stream on Friday 13 November.
The Autumn Meeting is the BGS's flagship scientific gathering and covers the latest scientific research alongside best clinical practice in the care of older people. It is designed to be of interest to all specialists responsible for the healthcare of older people — geriatricians and trainees, general and acute physicians, general practitioners with an interest in older people's health, nurses, allied health professionals, pharmacists and researchers.
The programme combines plenary lectures from leading figures in ageing research with symposia proposed and delivered by the society's special interest groups, free paper and poster sessions presenting new research, and practical clinical updates. Recurring themes across recent editions — frailty identification and intervention, dementia and delirium, falls and bone health, comprehensive geriatric assessment, deprescribing and polypharmacy, end-of-life care, and the organisation of acute and community services for older people — are refreshed each year against new evidence and UK policy change.
The Geriatrics 4 Trainees stream on the final day is built specifically for trainees, covering career development, examination preparation, research skills and the practicalities of the geriatric medicine training pathway, with its own abstract submission route.
Abstract submission for the main meeting closed at 5pm GMT on 24 July 2026, with the G4T abstract deadline on 7 September 2026 and research symposium proposals due by 31 August 2026.
The meeting has applied for 12 CPD credits with the Royal College of Physicians, London. Discounted accommodation is available at the onsite Nottingham Venues Orchard Hotel, released back to general sale after 12 August 2026. Registration is through the BGS website, with member and non-member rates.
