The International Conference on Medical Education (ICME 2027) comes to the Gulf for the first time, hosted at Arabian Gulf University (AGU) in Manama, Bahrain, from 5 to 8 November 2027. The conference is jointly organised by Riphah International University (Pakistan) and Arabian Gulf University (Bahrain), following a partnership agreement signed at the closing ceremony of IMEC–ICME 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.
The theme of ICME 2027 is "Innovation, Leadership, and Quality in Health Professions Education: Shaping the Future of Global Excellence". The conference provides a platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge among academics, researchers and professionals in medical and health professions education, with a focus on quality assurance, accreditation systems, educational innovation and social accountability — in line with the GCC Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The collaboration between AGU and Riphah International University extends beyond the conference itself to joint educational programmes, forums, lectures, training workshops and research projects. Hosting ICME 2027 in Bahrain marks a qualitative milestone as the conference's first edition in the Gulf region.
