The 2nd Regional Symposium on Nutrition and Healthy Longevity is held on 23–24 September 2026 at the M World Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, organised by the ILSI Southeast Asia Region. Building on the inaugural symposium, the 2026 edition brings together nutrition scientists, dietitians, clinicians, food scientists, public health professionals and regulators to examine how diet shapes the trajectory of ageing across Southeast Asian populations.
Southeast Asia is ageing faster than almost any other region, while simultaneously carrying a heavy burden of diet-related non-communicable disease and, in places, persistent undernutrition among older adults. The symposium is built around that double burden. Sessions address the evidence linking dietary patterns to healthspan rather than lifespan alone, protein quantity and quality requirements in older adults and their relationship to sarcopenia and functional decline, micronutrient adequacy and supplementation in later life, the gut microbiome and its role in inflammageing, metabolic health and the prevention of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, cognitive health and nutrition, and the practical challenge of translating nutrition science into food policy, product reformulation and dietary guidance that people actually follow.
The format combines invited lectures from regional and international experts with panel discussions and an e-poster session; a call for e-posters is open ahead of the meeting, giving researchers and postgraduate students a route to present their work. ILSI SEA Region's convening model deliberately brings academic, government and industry scientists into the same discussion, which makes the symposium useful for anyone working at the interface of nutrition evidence and food policy.
The intended audience includes dietitians and clinical nutritionists, geriatricians and primary care physicians, public health nutritionists, food technologists and product developers, academics and postgraduate students in nutrition and food science, and regulatory professionals.
