    About this event

The Anatomic Pathology and Histo-Cytotechniques Conference (APHCC) takes place on 9–10 December 2026 at the InterContinental Hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Jointly hosted by the Saudi Society for Laboratory Medicine (SSLM) and the Saudi Society of Cytotechnology and Histotechnology (SSCH), the meeting offers both in-person and virtual participation. Its co-chairs are Prof. Zuhier Awan, SSLM President, and Abdulbasit Andijany, SSCH Chairman. The conference brings together pathologists, laboratory technologists, researchers and students to exchange experience and strengthen diagnostic practice.

Building on APHCC’s launch in 2024, this edition spans cytopathology, anatomic pathology, cytotechniques, histotechniques, molecular pathology, precision diagnostics, digital pathology, artificial intelligence and leadership in laboratory medicine. The first day opens with cytopathology sessions addressing thyroid and gynecologic specimens, effusions and urine, case reviews, and troubleshooting in liquid-based cytology. Dr. Abeer Salama, Consultant Pathologist and Section Head at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, is named for the thyroid/gynecologic presentation and a case-review session.

A substantial afternoon session explores data-driven pathology through foundation models, pixelomics, spatial proteomics, artificial intelligence and de-identified national pathology datasets. Day one also includes a corporate satellite symposium with a cervical-cancer AI technology presentation and a Philips scientific session. Excellence Medical Systems (EMS) is identified as the platinum sponsor; the sponsor artwork also displays Philips branding.

The second day addresses molecular diagnostics in precision oncology, quality assurance and accreditation in anatomical pathology, and research and innovation. Two workshops are listed on 10 December: the HER2 Interpretation Masterclass from 08:30 to 09:30, and NGS Workflow in Breast Cancer Management from 09:30 to 10:30. Workshop faculty, separate fees and capacity are not specified. A keynote examines MET amplification testing strategies and patient selection. Later sessions cover histopathology artefacts, laboratory hazards, immunohistochemistry troubleshooting, and specimen preparation for molecular diagnosis. Mrs. Sondos Khaleel Eskander, Medical Laboratory Technologist at KFAFH, is named for the histology-and-genomics session. The meeting concludes with recognition, awards and closing remarks.

Published registration options start at SAR 200 for online attendance or the early-bird in-person specialists ticket; the early-bird in-person pathologists ticket is SAR 350. Early-bird tickets are available until 1 November 2026 at 00:00 Asia/Riyadh, and the online ticket until 9 December at 00:00. The complete published agenda is indexed with its original timings, including overlaps. No current-edition CME hours, accreditor approval, abstract-submission deadline or downloadable program PDF has been verified.
