Multiple Myeloma — From Understanding to Action: Advancing RRMM Outcomes with Belantamab
31 Aug 2026 · 8:00–10:00 pm UAE time · Zoom · Online
The 215th session of the IVPN-AR (International Virtual Pharmacy Network — Arabic Region) brings the regional clinical pharmacy community together for a focused, case-driven evening on relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) and the evolving role of belantamab mafodotin, a BCMA-directed antibody–drug conjugate.
Why attend
Multiple myeloma remains an incurable but increasingly treatable plasma-cell malignancy. Each relapse narrows the therapeutic window, and the sequencing of proteasome inhibitors, immunomodulatory agents, anti-CD38 antibodies and now BCMA-targeted therapy has become one of the most consequential decisions a haematology–oncology team makes. Pharmacists sit at the centre of that decision: dose banding, renal dose adjustment, infusion-reaction management, ocular toxicity monitoring and patient counselling all run through the pharmacy service.
What the session covers
- Pathophysiology of multiple myeloma refreshed for the practising pharmacist — clonal evolution, cytogenetic risk and what drives refractoriness
- Where belantamab mafodotin sits in current RRMM treatment algorithms, with a review of the pivotal trial evidence
- Mechanism of a BCMA-directed antibody–drug conjugate and what that mechanism predicts about its toxicity profile
- Ocular adverse events: keratopathy grading, the role of scheduled ophthalmic examination, dose modification thresholds and the counselling script that keeps patients on therapy
- Supportive-care essentials — thrombocytopenia, infusion-related reactions, infection prophylaxis
- Interactive Q&A with the faculty and regional case discussion
Who should attend
Clinical pharmacists, oncology and haematology pharmacists, pharmacy residents and interns, haematologists, medical oncologists, oncology nurses and pharmacy students across Saudi Arabia, the GCC and the wider Arab region.
Format and access
The webinar runs live on Zoom for two hours in the evening (UAE time) so that practitioners can attend after clinical hours. Registration is free and takes place through the Zoom registration link; joining details are emailed on confirmation. IVPN-AR sessions are delivered in partnership with a network of regional pharmacy bodies including the Saudi Society of Clinical Pharmacy (SSCP), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon, Ain Shams University and King Saud University, and this session is supported by GSK.
Good to know
Sessions in the IVPN-AR series are typically recorded and certificates of attendance are issued to registered participants who attend live. Seats on the Zoom webinar are limited — register early.
