    About this event

The 8th MOH Physiotherapy Conference 2026 is organised by the physiotherapy profession within the Ministry of Health Malaysia and runs from 7 to 10 September 2026 at Resorts World Langkawi. It is the national gathering for physiotherapists working across the Malaysian public health service, and it also draws practitioners from private practice, universities and neighbouring countries.

The conference programme covers the full breadth of physiotherapy practice. Musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy sessions address manual therapy, exercise prescription, tendinopathy and return-to-sport decision making. Neurological rehabilitation content spans stroke recovery, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease and neuroplasticity-informed practice. Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy sessions look at critical care rehabilitation, post-COVID and chronic respiratory conditions, and early mobilisation in intensive care. Further tracks typically cover paediatric physiotherapy, women's health, geriatric rehabilitation and falls prevention, pain science and its clinical application, telerehabilitation and digital tools, and the use of outcome measures and evidence in everyday practice.

Alongside the scientific sessions, the meeting serves a professional development purpose: it is where the Malaysian physiotherapy workforce discusses scope of practice, clinical governance, service standards, research capacity and career pathways within the health service. Pre-conference workshops give hands-on skills teaching, and free paper and poster sessions provide a platform for service evaluation and research from across the state hospital network. A call for abstracts runs ahead of the conference, with submission and registration handled through the conference's official links.

Langkawi, an island in the Andaman Sea off Malaysia's northwest coast, is served by its own international airport and offers a resort setting that supports the conference's residential format across four days.

For physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, the meeting is a useful point of comparison: Malaysia has built a large public-sector physiotherapy workforce with defined career and specialisation pathways, and the conference makes that structure visible. Registration, abstract submission and programme details are published through the conference's official registration links.
