    About this event

The 9th Annual Scientific Congress of the Saudi Interventional Radiology Society (SIRS) gathered interventional radiologists, trainees, and allied health professionals at the Hilton Riyadh Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 15–17 January 2026. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health and accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) with 30 CME hours, the congress featured an international faculty and a multidisciplinary program spanning intervention oncology, portal interventions, embolization, AI in IR, vascular anomalies, neuroradiology, and an allied health track.

The scientific program was organized across three days with dedicated sessions in Hall 1. Day 1 opened with an Intervention Oncology (IO) session moderated by Dr. Bandar Safar, Dr. Mohammad AlShaikh, and Dr. Hamad AlSuhaibani, covering advanced portal vein recanalization, radiation segmentectomy and lobectomy, Y90 in multifocal HCC, TACE combined with systemic/immunotherapy, liver-directed therapies for CRC and NET metastases, and AI's emerging role in IO. A Portal session followed, led by Dr. Ali Alsaadi, Dr. Zergham Zia, and Dr. Saed Alghamdi, exploring portal vein thrombosis management, hepatic outflow restoration in Budd-Chiari syndrome, and liver venous deprivation in oncologic resection. The afternoon Embolization session, moderated by Dr. Noha Guzaiz and Dr. Fares Garad, addressed thyroid embolization, hepatic embolization for giant hemangioma, pulmonary AVM closure, hemorrhoid embolization, uterine fibroid embolization, prostate artery embolization (PAE), genicular artery embolization (GAE), frozen shoulder embolization, pelvic congestion syndrome, and fallopian tube interventions. The day concluded with an AI session examining where artificial intelligence is sparking a new IR revolution.

The congress also offered hands-on workshops running parallel across all three days. Workshop topics included endoleak management, fundamental research terminology and REDCap introduction, research abstract oral presentations, and clinical management of vascular anomalies, alongside sessions on shockwave intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) for calcified vessels. A dedicated Allied Health Track supported radiology supervisors, IR technologists, quality officers, clinical nurse specialists, and cath lab radiographers.

International faculty included Prof. Stefan Müller-Hülsbeck (CIRSE), Prof. Saher Sabri (SIR President-elect), Prof. Robert Morgan (BSIR President), Prof. Jafar Golzarian (GEST founder), Prof. Gerard O'Sullivan (CIRSE), Prof. Miltiadis Krokidis (IASIOS), Prof. Riad Salem (Northwestern University), Dr. Kong Teng Tan, Prof. Mark Little, Prof. Sean Tutton (SIO), Prof. Raphaël Blanc, Prof. Deok He Lee, Prof. Shazam Hussain (Cleveland Clinic), Prof. Jocelyn Brooks, Dr. Andrew Wigham, Dr. Amr M.
