    About this event

MSD Saudi Arabia, together with the Saudi Society for Rheumatology and the Saudi Association for Pulmonary Hypertension (SAPH), hosts a two-hour CME-accredited session on a comprehensive approach to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) diagnosis and risk stratification on 19 September 2026, 1:00–3:00 PM (Riyadh time).

The session focuses on PAH in the setting of connective tissue disease — one of the most commonly missed and most time-sensitive complications in rheumatology practice. Discussion covers who to screen and when, the diagnostic pathway from echocardiographic suspicion to right heart catheterisation, current risk stratification tools, and how risk status should drive treatment intensity and follow-up. The second talk turns to CTD-PAH treatment updates, including combination strategies and treatment escalation in patients who do not reach low-risk status.

    Agenda

    • The Pulmonary Hypertension Journey in Connective Tissue Diseases: Screening, Diagnosis, and Beyond — Dr. Shayaa Alshayaa, Consultant, Pulmonary Hypertension, King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh
    • CTD-PAH; Treatment Updates — Dr. Abdullah Aldalaan, Consultant, Pulmonary Hypertension, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Riyadh

Moderator: Dr. Hanan Alrayes, Consultant Rheumatology, Prince Sultan Military Medical City, Riyadh.

Who should attend: rheumatologists and rheumatology trainees, pulmonologists, cardiologists, internal medicine physicians and clinical pharmacists involved in the care of patients with systemic sclerosis, lupus, mixed connective tissue disease and other CTDs at risk of pulmonary hypertension.
