Primary Care Update: Endocrinology, Women's Health, and Orthopedics is a four-day live CME course from American Medical Seminars (AMS), held 7–10 September 2027 at The Lodge at Gulf State Park, a Hilton Hotel, in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and streamed as a live webinar for those who cannot travel.
Credit. AMS designates the activity for a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, and successful completion including the evaluation component enables up to 20 ABIM MOC points. AMS is accredited by the ACCME. AANPCP, ANCC and NCCPA accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ from ACCME-accredited providers, so nurse practitioners, physician associates and non-US-licensed physicians can generally claim the credit — eligibility questions go to the attendee's own accrediting body.
Format. Half-day sessions run 07:30–12:50 each day, deliberately leaving afternoons free. Each hour is a focused, guideline-based update designed for generalists rather than subspecialists.
Sample content across the four mornings.
- Women's health and phlebology: chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins, pelvic phlebology and thromboembolic disease, pelvic pain and endometriosis, office urogynaecology, ultrasound in obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Gynaecology: vaginitis revisited, cervical dysplasia and the abnormal Pap.
- Orthopaedics and sports medicine: concussion evaluation and management, ankle sprain, shoulder pain 101, office orthopaedic assessment.
- Endocrinology and metabolic health: basics of obesity management, the art of diagnosing diabetes (two parts), MASLD/MASH screening and management for the internist.
Faculty. The course is taught by a small, returning AMS faculty (including Dr Ninia on venous and gynaecological topics and Dr Taylor on orthopaedics and endocrinology), which keeps the four days coherent rather than a series of unconnected lectures.
Registration and fees. Physician registration is listed at US$1,109, non-physician/resident at US$1,039, and the live webinar at US$839. Discounted room rates at The Lodge at Gulf State Park are available on a first-come basis; organisers advise registering by late July 2027 to secure the block rate.
