The Saudi Liver Meeting (SLM) 2026 is the annual scientific meeting of the Saudi Society for the Study of Liver Disease and Transplantation (SASLT), held from Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 October 2026 at the voco Riyadh Hotel. The meeting is SCFHS accredited for up to 16 CME hours and brings together hepatologists, gastroenterologists, transplant surgeons and physicians, pediatric hepatologists, pathologists, interventional radiologists, transplant coordinators, nurses, fellows and residents from across Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
The meeting opens on Thursday with four parallel pre-conference activities, each with its own hall and separate registration fee. The Adult Hepatology Board Review Course (Diwan Hall, 08:00–12:00) works methodically through the decompensation syllabus: hepatic encephalopathy and nutrition, ascites and hepatorenal syndrome, portal hypertension in pregnancy, anticoagulation in cirrhosis, liver pathology case challenges, the inherited liver diseases, hepatitis B in 2026, hepatocellular carcinoma and a 50-minute MCQ session. In the afternoon the same hall hosts the SASLT / EASL / UCHID School of Hepatology, a structured MASLD curriculum running from nomenclature and pathophysiology through biochemical and imaging-based non-invasive testing, the place of liver biopsy, non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment, MASLD in diabetes, portal hypertension, bundles of care for advanced chronic liver disease, and MASLD in the transplant setting.
In parallel, the Pediatric Hepatology Board Review Course (Abha Hall, 07:15–16:00) covers bile acid metabolism, cholestatic pruritus, unexplained transaminitis, metabolic liver disease, Wilson disease, the cholestasis map, refractory autoimmune hepatitis, pediatric ascites and varices, liver masses, paediatric acute liver failure referral, transplantation timing and post-transplant complications, closing with a Hepatology Jeopardy board-preparation session. The Liver Transplant Coordinator Workshop (Jeddah Hall, 08:30–13:40) is built for the coordination team: donation overview, listing and prioritisation, red flags in donors and recipients, graft preparation, donor management after brain death, innovation in coordination and liver preservation. A FIBROSCAN workshop also runs as a pre-conference activity.
Friday 9 October is the SASLT / EASL Joint Symposium in Riyadh Hall, with international faculty covering practical MASLD management, acute-on-chronic liver failure and transplantation, hepatitis B and delta, HCC bridging and downstaging, PBC and PSC risk stratification, and rare indications for liver transplant. The afternoon pediatric hepatology session addresses MASLD in children, the evolution of paediatric liver transplantation in Oman, transition of care, neonatal liver failure, vaccination after transplantation, genetic testing and histopathology in cholestatic disorders, and the KFSH&RC experience transplanting for MSUD. Saturday 10 October closes with the General Hepatology Session, including artificial intelligence and the future of MASLD, interventional radiology beyond TIPS, drug-induced liver injury, biliary complications after transplant, Baveno 8, and optimising the hepatology care pathway.
Registration is free for SASLT members. Early bird rates until 25 September 2026 are SAR 300 for physicians and consultants, SAR 200 for trainees, fellows and residents, SAR 150 for nurses and SAR 100 for students, doubling afterwards. Pre-conference courses are charged separately: SAR 100 for the Adult Hepatology / School of Hepatology day, SAR 75 for the Pediatric Hepatology Board Review Course, SAR 50 for the Transplant Coordinator Course and SAR 50 for the FIBROSCAN workshop.
