Update in Medicine — Brighton is a one-day Royal College of Physicians conference on 6 October 2026 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole, carrying 6 CPD credits.
The RCP's Update in Medicine series is designed by physicians for physicians and rotates through regional centres across the UK and Northern Ireland, with each programme shaped by RCP regional advisers to reflect both national clinical priorities and local service pressures. The Brighton 2026 programme covers clinical updates in stroke medicine, obesity and weight management, and palliative care, alongside professional sessions and the regional Turner-Warwick lecture slot that gives resident doctors a platform to present their research.
Confirmed speakers include Dr David Hargroves, National Clinical Director for Stroke; Dr Sanjay Suman, consultant geriatrician; Dr Sarah Bowers in palliative care; Dr Claire Turner in public health; and Dr Henry Alexander, consultant geriatrician. Sessions are built around practical, case-anchored teaching with live Q&A rather than didactic review, and the day includes structured time to meet senior RCP officers and regional colleagues.
The series is deliberately face-to-face only; there is no online or on-demand option. Fees are £125 for RCP subscribing members and fellows at consultant/SAS grade, £285 for non-member consultants, SAS doctors and allied health professionals, £75 for RCP subscribing resident doctors, foundation doctors, medical students, retired fellows and refugee doctors, and £185 for non-member trainees and students.
