The Annual Scientific Meeting of the Neurosurgical Association of Malaysia (NAM ASM 2026) is held from 25 to 27 September 2026 at the Zenith Hotel in Kuantan, Pahang, hosted by Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre @ IIUM under Hospital Director Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohamed Saufi Awang.
The meeting is Malaysia's principal annual neurosurgical gathering, bringing together consultant neurosurgeons, trainees, neurosurgical nursing staff, neurologists, neuroradiologists and neurocritical care clinicians from across the country and the wider Southeast Asian region. The host's welcome message frames the meeting around resilience and adaptability in addressing the complex challenges of clinical practice, and around integrating innovation into everyday neurosurgical care.
The scientific programme spans the breadth of the specialty: neurotrauma and the management of severe head injury, which remains a dominant burden in Malaysian practice; neuro-oncology including glioma and skull base tumours; cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery; complex and degenerative spine surgery; functional neurosurgery and epilepsy surgery; paediatric neurosurgery and hydrocephalus management; and neurocritical care. Sessions combine invited lectures from international faculty with case presentations and outcome data from Malaysian centres.
A dedicated workshop track runs alongside the main programme, offering hands-on and skills-based training that is separately registered and typically limited in capacity.
Abstract submission closed on 15 August 2026 with author notification on 20 August 2026, and accepted work is presented in oral and poster sessions during the meeting. Early-bird registration ran to 30 June 2026, with standard rates applying from 1 July 2026.
The congress website publishes the first announcement, the full speaker list, the detailed programme, workshop information, sponsor details and the registration portal. Kuantan's east-coast setting gives the meeting a more concentrated, collegial character than the larger Kuala Lumpur congresses.
