The Turkish Ophthalmological Association convenes its 60th National Congress from 25 to 29 November 2026 at the Susesi Hotel and Congress Center in Belek, Antalya, organised with the contribution of the association's İstanbul Branch.
The first Turkish Ophthalmology Congress was held in İstanbul in 1955; the 2026 meeting marks the sixtieth in that unbroken line. The invitation letter frames the congress as more than a scientific exchange — it is presented as the annual expression of a shared professional culture, the gathering that makes the Turkish ophthalmology community a family and sustains a collective culture of producing knowledge together.
The five-day scientific programme covers the whole specialty: medical and surgical retina, cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma medical and surgical management, cornea and ocular surface disease, uveitis, oculoplastic and orbital surgery, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology and ocular oncology. Instructional courses, surgical video sessions, live case discussions and free paper sessions run in parallel across multiple halls, and industry satellite symposia address new pharmacological and device options.
The congress carries a strong commitment to research development. The Öner Gelişken FFA Club Young Researcher Support Programme accepts applications in connection with the meeting, and dedicated sessions showcase resident and fellow research. Abstract submission is open through the congress portal, along with a separate photograph and video submission stream that feeds the congress's long-running visual competition.
Registration, accommodation and transfer arrangements are handled through the official site, which also publishes the boards, the scientific programme, general information and contact details.
For ophthalmologists across Türkiye and neighbouring countries, TOD's national congress is the definitive annual meeting of the specialty.
