Theme: "Pharmacy at the Frontlines of Innovation and Health Equity"
Following three successful cycles of the Clinical Pharmacy Symposium at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), the 4th edition presents an opportunity to showcase how pharmacy practice is evolving at the intersection of clinical innovation, digital transformation, and patient-centered care. Building on past themes that explored pharmacy from practice, the medication journey, and advocacy, the 2026 symposium focuses on the future-facing roles of pharmacists in precision medicine, digital and AI-enabled healthcare, health equity and sustainability, and policy and leadership in formulary and health outcomes.
This one-day, in-person conference runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the SSMC Auditorium in Abu Dhabi and aligns with both global trends in pharmacy and national ambitions within the UAE healthcare system to adopt cutting-edge solutions while ensuring high-quality, equitable patient care.
Programme highlights (5 sessions):
- Leadership and the Pharmacy Landscape – incl. Pharmacogenomics and Formulary Integration (Dr. Wadha Mohammed Abdulrahman, DoH Abu Dhabi), The Present and Future Pharmacy Landscape in Abu Dhabi (Dr. Sahar Abu Omar, Purehealth), and A Career Path from Dispensing to International Leadership (Dr. Nadia Al Mazroui).
- Health Equity and Access to Medicines – Cost-effectiveness without Compromising Access or Ethics (Dr. Gihan Elsisi, HTA Office MENA); Pharmacist's Role in Reducing Disparities in Medication Access; Clinical Tools for Pharmacists in Price Negotiation (Dr. Waeil Al Naeem, SEHA).
- Advanced Roles in Interdisciplinary Care – Pharmacists Leading Ambulatory Clinics, Transitions of Care and Medication Reconciliation, Interdisciplinary Experience from GI Clinic, and the Anticoagulation Stewardship Program at SSMC.
- Sustainability and Green Pharmacy – Environmentally Friendly Medication Formulary, Sustainability-Oriented Supply Chain, Interchangeability of Biosimilars, Environmentally Responsible Medication Disposal.
- The Youth and The Future of Pharmacy – AI Showcase in Healthcare (Dr. Manal Al Seiari), Digital Health Solutions (Dr. Tamer Mahmoud Saleh), a Youth Discussion Panel (Residents and PharmD students), and a debate on AI in Medication Management: Promise and Pitfalls.
