The 19th European Public Health Conference is held 11–13 November 2026 at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao, Spain, with pre-conferences on 10 November. The theme is "Urban and global synergies: shaping the future of public health with climate resilience, equity and innovation."
The EPH Conference is the largest annual public health meeting in Europe, convening researchers, policymakers, practitioners, public health institutes and NGOs from across the region and beyond. The 2026 theme places cities at the centre: how urban planning, mobility, housing and green infrastructure shape population health; how public health systems build resilience to heat, flooding and other climate shocks; how health equity is protected as cities grow and change; and where digital tools, surveillance innovation and AI genuinely add value to public health practice.
The programme is built from plenaries, parallel workshops, oral and pitch presentation sessions, poster walks, EUPHA section meetings and a substantial pre-conference day on 10 November covering focused topics run by EUPHA sections and partner organisations. The conference carries EACCME® accreditation.
Important note for prospective attendees: registration for the main conference is now closed, having reached venue capacity. Registration for the 10 November pre-conferences remains open and is handled by email to registration@ephconference.eu. Published fees run from €750 to €940 including 21% VAT depending on category and registration period.
The conference leadership includes Manuel Franco as conference chair, Eduardo Satué de Velasco and Rosa Urbanos as scientific committee chairs, and Iñaki Gutiérrez-Ibarluzea providing local support in the Basque Country. Bilbao itself is a deliberate choice of host city — its post-industrial regeneration, transport and riverfront transformation are frequently cited case studies in urban health and wellbeing.
For public health professionals in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf working on Vision 2030 health-city programmes, heat adaptation, non-communicable disease prevention and health-in-all-policies approaches, the EPH Conference is the main European forum where comparable national experience and evaluation evidence are presented.
