SURGE 2026 — SGH Urology Week is the annual urology education week hosted by the Department of Urology at Singapore General Hospital, running from 12 to 17 October 2026 in Singapore. Rather than a single plenary meeting, SURGE is structured as a week of tightly focused, high-intensity teaching: a series of hands-on workshops, live and semi-live surgery sessions, and clinical symposia that each stand on their own but share a common faculty and a common philosophy of learning by doing.
The 2026 edition brings together several established SGH courses under one umbrella. The 12th Advanced Laparoscopic Nephrectomy and Renal Transplant Workshop remains the anchor event, taking participants through donor and radical nephrectomy technique, vascular control, and the surgical steps of renal transplantation with cadaveric and simulation-based practice supported by regional and international faculty. Alongside it, the Mini-PCNL and ECIRS course addresses the contemporary management of complex renal stone disease, covering access technique, tract dilatation, intrarenal combined approaches, laser settings and complication avoidance. A dedicated BPH symposium reviews the expanding menu of surgical options for benign prostatic obstruction, from HoLEP and other enucleation techniques to minimally invasive water vapour and prostatic urethral lift procedures, with an emphasis on matching technique to prostate anatomy and patient goals.
The intended audience is urology residents and fellows, consultant urologists looking to add or refine a technique, transplant surgeons, and urology nurses and operating theatre staff. Numbers on the practical stations are deliberately limited so that each participant gets meaningful console and scope time rather than observing from the back of a room, and the accompanying symposia give the theoretical grounding and case-selection reasoning behind each technique.
