The International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, organized by the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), will be held in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, from 5 to 7 November 2026. The conference will be opened by His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, and brings together a select group of experts, academics and specialists in medicine, artificial intelligence and health technology from Bahrain, the Gulf region and around the world.
The meeting reflects the accelerating integration of AI into healthcare systems. According to AGU's Vice President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, Dr. Ghazi bin Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi, the scientific programme covers the use of AI in preventing heart disease and predicting cardiovascular risk; supporting patients with diabetes and obesity through continuous monitoring and personalized treatment; and advancing medical imaging technologies to improve diagnostic accuracy.
Dedicated sessions will address AI in emergency departments and intensive care units, including intelligent patient triage, early detection of critical conditions and personalization of treatment plans. Discussions will also cover the ethical and regulatory dimensions of AI in healthcare — protecting patient privacy and ensuring safe, responsible deployment — as well as the role of AI in advancing nursing, medical education and precision medicine through clinical decision support, remote monitoring and the training of a digitally skilled healthcare workforce. A special session is dedicated to medical students and AI in medical education.
The conference will further explore genomics and bioinformatics, including biomarker discovery, accelerating drug development and predicting therapeutic response, as well as enhancing primary and virtual care and improving chronic disease management beyond traditional healthcare facilities.
The programme concludes with hands-on workshops on AI for ECG interpretation, clinical research design and health data analysis, emphasizing the synergy between technological innovation and human clinical expertise.
