The third Gene Lay Institute Annual Symposium brings together world-leading immunologists for a half-day scientific program on Immunity and Inflammation in Disease and Tissue, hosted at Harvard Medical School's Joseph B. Martin Conference Center on Friday, July 31, 2026 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT).
The 2026 edition is headlined by 2025 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, Dr. Shimon Sakaguchi (Osaka University), discoverer of regulatory T cells, alongside three globally recognised immunologists:
- Marco Colonna, MD — Professor, Center for Computational and Integrative Biology, Massachusetts General Research Institute (innate immunity & ILCs)
- Stefani Spranger, PhD — Associate Professor of Biology & Associate Director, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (tumor immunology)

The Gene Lay Institute of Immunology and Inflammation is a tri-institutional research enterprise across Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, focused on translating discoveries in immunity, inflammation, aging, and cancer immunology into new therapies.
