    About this event

The 19th European CME Forum (19ECF) takes place 11–13 November 2026 at the Van der Valk Hotel Schiphol, Amsterdam, under the theme "Future-proofing CME/CPD".

The European CME Forum is the principal annual meeting for people who design, accredit, fund, evaluate and research continuing medical education in Europe. Its audience spans accreditation bodies, medical societies, universities and academic CPD offices, medical education companies, outcomes and assessment specialists, publishers, and the medical education teams of pharmaceutical and device companies. The format is deliberately small and discussion-driven: plenary framing sessions, panel debates, workshops and poster presentations, with generous time for exchange between accreditors, providers and supporters.

The 2026 theme addresses what CME/CPD must become as healthcare education adapts to artificial intelligence, new regulatory expectations, changing funding models, interprofessional and team-based learning, and the growing demand for demonstrable educational outcomes rather than participation counts. Recurring Forum topics include independence and transparency of commercially supported education, accreditation harmonisation across European jurisdictions, measuring performance and patient-level change, digital and asynchronous learning formats, and equitable access to education for clinicians in under-resourced settings.

Poster abstracts for 19ECF close on 28 September 2026. The poster session is a core part of the meeting and welcomes work on educational design, needs assessment methodology, outcomes measurement, accreditation policy and case studies of CME/CPD programmes.

Faculty announced for the 2026 edition includes Sarah Atwood, Jann Balmer, Dean Beals, Amy Bernard, Ritwik Bhatnager, Steven Kawczak, David Price and Robin Stevenson, alongside further speakers being added to the programme. Registration is handled at cmeforum.org/19ECF-register; fee tiers, CME credits, sponsors and cover imagery have not yet been published for this edition.

Schiphol's location makes the meeting unusually easy to reach for a two-and-a-half-day event, with the venue a short transfer from Amsterdam Airport. For accreditors and educators in the Gulf and wider Middle East who are building national CPD frameworks, the Forum is one of the few venues where European accreditation practice, outcomes research and provider experience are debated in one room.
