The 17th Congress of the European Paediatric Neurology Society (EPNS 2027) is held in Barcelona, Spain, from 6 to 10 April 2027 under the theme "From Technological Complexity to Patient Centered Care". The congress runs in hybrid format and is chaired locally by Dr Carmen Fons, with the EPNS scientific committee building the programme around the tension the theme describes: how genomics, advanced imaging, device therapy and machine learning can be absorbed into child neurology without displacing the child and family at the centre of care.
EPNS congresses are the principal European gathering for paediatric neurologists, and the programme covers the full breadth of the specialty. Expected content includes childhood epilepsy and epilepsy surgery, neonatal neurology and neuroprotection, neurogenetics and the expanding catalogue of treatable inborn errors, neuromuscular disease and the new disease-modifying therapies in spinal muscular atrophy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy, movement disorders, neuroinflammation and autoimmune encephalitis, paediatric stroke, neurodevelopmental disorders, headache, neurometabolic disease, neurorehabilitation and palliative neurology. Alongside the main scientific sessions, the congress runs teaching courses and pre-congress workshops aimed at trainees, hands-on sessions in EEG and neuroimaging interpretation, and structured programmes for allied health professionals and nurses working in paediatric neurology.
Abstract submission opens well in advance, with a deadline of 15 October 2026 for the 2027 congress; accepted abstracts are presented as platform talks, e-posters and guided poster tours, and the society runs awards and travel grants for early-career members. The congress is accredited for European CME through EACCME, and the credits are accepted for continuing professional development by SCFHS and other regulators in the Gulf.
Barcelona is a straightforward destination from the Middle East with direct flights from Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha and Dubai, and the April dates sit comfortably before the summer examination period for most trainees.
