    About this event

The Continuing Professional Development Department of the Deanship of Postgraduate Education, KSAU-HS, in collaboration with the Intensive Care Department, Women's Health and the Riyadh Clinical Simulation Centre, is opening registration for the 4th Fundamental Critical Care Support Course — Obstetrics, held on 1–2 December 2026.

FCCS Obstetrics adapts the internationally recognised Fundamental Critical Care Support programme to the pregnant and postpartum patient. Critical illness in pregnancy is uncommon but carries high stakes for two patients at once: obstetric haemorrhage, hypertensive disorders and eclampsia, sepsis, cardiac disease, thromboembolism and respiratory failure can deteriorate rapidly, and the physiological changes of pregnancy alter how these conditions present and how they must be managed. The course prepares obstetricians, intensivists, emergency physicians, anaesthetists, residents, fellows and nurses to recognise deterioration early and deliver effective care during the first critical hours, before specialist critical care support is available.

The two-day programme combines didactic sessions with hands-on skill stations and simulation-based scenarios at the Riyadh Clinical Simulation Centre, covering assessment of the critically ill obstetric patient, airway management, mechanical ventilation, shock and fluid resuscitation, and management of life-threatening obstetric emergencies.

Accreditation: accredited with 15 CME hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
