The Cairo Retina Meeting (CRM 2027) returns on 14–15 January 2027 at the Hilton Cairo Grand Nile Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, bringing together national, regional and international experts in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery.
A highlight of this edition is Retina Live 2027 — a full day of live surgery broadcast from the operating theatre, where attendees watch carefully selected surgical techniques performed by world-renowned vitreoretinal surgeons in real time. The scientific programme also features instruction courses, round-table discussions on surgical techniques, retinal diagnostics sessions, and updates on the latest industry products.
Attendees can compete for the award-winning Best-Case Presentation and Best Video prizes, making CRM a genuine platform for both learning and recognition. The meeting is founded and chaired by Prof. Ehab El Rayes, MD, PhD, FASRS, with a scientific committee that includes Alaa Fathy, Kourous Rezaei, Stanislao Rizzo, Mahmoud Leila and Wael Osman El-Haig, and an early-career section led by Ahmed El Shafie.
The international faculty announced as of September 2026 includes Stratos Gotzaridis (My Retina Athens Eye Center, Greece), Stanislao Rizzo (Fondazione Policlinico A. Gemelli IRCCS, Rome), Francesco Faraldi (Ospedale Mauriziano–Umberto I, Turin), Remzi Avci (Retina Eye Hospital, Bursa) and Carlos Mateo (Instituto de Microcirugia Ocular, Barcelona), with many more to be confirmed.
