The 5th Edition of the International Ophthalmology Conference (IOC 2027) takes place from 15 to 17 March 2027 at Village Hotel Changi in Singapore, running as a hybrid meeting so that delegates can attend in person or present remotely. Organised by Magnus Group, IOC has run five editions across Rome, Singapore and online, and has hosted close to 200 speakers across the series.
The scientific scope covers the breadth of eye care. Sessions address cataract and refractive surgery, cornea and external disease, glaucoma diagnosis and surgical management, medical and surgical retina including diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, uveitis and ocular immunology, neuro-ophthalmology, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, oculoplastics, ocular oncology, low vision and rehabilitation, optometry and contact lens practice, and vision science and ophthalmic pharmacology. Newer tracks reflect where the field is moving: artificial intelligence in retinal screening and image interpretation, teleophthalmology, gene and cell therapy for inherited retinal disease, and advances in ophthalmic imaging.
The format mixes keynote lectures, plenary and parallel oral sessions, poster presentations, and a dedicated young researcher forum, with awards for outstanding presentations. Because it is an open-submission conference, the delegate mix is genuinely international and includes ophthalmologists, optometrists, ophthalmic nurses and technicians, vision scientists, residents and doctoral students, and industry representatives working in ophthalmic devices and pharmaceuticals.
For ophthalmologists from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, IOC 2027 is notable for its timing: it sits immediately before the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress in the same city, making it possible to attend both meetings on a single trip to Singapore in March 2027. The hybrid option also allows participation without travel, which suits trainees and departments with limited study leave budgets.
