The Singapore Research Ethics Conference (SREC 2027) returns as an in-person conference on 23–24 March 2027. It is jointly organised by NHG Health, the National University of Singapore and Singapore Health Services (SingHealth). SREC is Singapore's only conference dedicated to research ethics. It brings together people from academia, healthcare, industry, regulatory bodies and patient advocacy groups.
The 2027 theme is "Reorienting Research Ethics in the Age of AI". The conference will look at new ethical challenges in human subjects research, including the role of artificial intelligence in study design, data use and decision-making; regulatory and privacy considerations; and the changing issues that Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), ethics committee members and researchers face.
The conference is aimed at clinician-researchers, IRB and ethics committee members, research coordinators, research administrators, data governance professionals, regulators and anyone involved in carrying out or overseeing clinical and health research. Across two days, plenaries and discussions will look at how ethical frameworks, consent practices and oversight need to adapt as AI tools and large-scale health data become part of research.
Details on the organisers and the venue (with directions) are on the official SingHealth Duke-NUS SREC pages. The full programme, speakers and registration fees will be published on the official website.
