Al Salama Hospital in Jeddah hosts its 2nd Family Medicine Conference on 12 November 2026 at the Shangri-La Jeddah, under the theme "Family Medicine: The Backbone of a Sustainable Healthcare System". The one-day meeting is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties with 8 CME hours, and is accompanied by a separate hands-on workshop, "From Latch to Lactation: A Hands-On Breastfeeding Workshop" (SCFHS Accreditation No. ACA-20260003125, 3 CME hours).
The scientific programme is built around six sessions that move from health-system strategy to everyday primary care practice. The opening session looks at sustainable healthcare and the future of healthcare in Saudi Arabia, including health tourism, telemedicine meets AI, and value-over-volume models of family medicine. A prevention and quality-of-life session covers evidence-based screening, value-based exercise prescription, and a critical look at supplements. The cardiometabolic block addresses value-based diabetes care, the new era of MASH management with incretin-led combination therapies, IBD hidden under IBS, and the 2026 AHA cardiovascular prevention updates. Later sessions tackle migraine, polyarthritis in primary care and the allergy pandemic, followed by a women's health session on smarter antenatal care, modern menopause care and early detection of postpartum depression, and a closing session on sexual health conversations every family physician should have.
The faculty brings together Al Salama Hospital consultants and international guests, including Prof. Jonathan Firnhaber (Professor and Interim Chair of Family Medicine), Prof. Scott Wallace (High Value Healthcare Specialist), Prof. Hani Almoallim (Internal Medicine and Rheumatology), Prof. Abdulrahim Gari (Obstetrics & Gynecology), Dr. Marwan Alsafadi (Consultant and Head of Family Medicine), Dr. Shaima Alshareef (Family Medicine and Director of the Longevity Department), Dr. Amira Hussein, Dr. Razaz Wali, Dr. Sanaa Alzaydee and others across endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, psychiatry, allergy and immunology.
Learning outcomes include exploring the latest advances in family medicine and primary healthcare, promoting evidence-based and patient-centered practice, integrating innovation, AI and digital health into primary care, strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration and continuity of care, and improving outcomes through sustainable and preventive approaches. Seats are limited (233 spots remaining at the time of listing), so early booking through Al Salama Hospital is recommended.
