South GPCME 2026 — South General Practice Conference & Medical Exhibition
13 Aug 2026 – 16 Aug 2026 · Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, Christchurch, New Zealand · In-Person
South GPCME 2026 (South General Practice Conference & Medical Exhibition) is one of New Zealand's premier primary care conferences, returning to Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre from 13–16 August 2026. Organised by the South Link Education Trust, the event brings general practitioners, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, practice managers, pharmacists, health coaches and other primary care professionals together for four days of practical clinical updates and peer networking.
South GPCME is designed around the day-to-day realities of general practice. Sessions are deliberately short, sharp and clinically relevant, with each speaker asked to deliver clear take-home messages that attendees can apply immediately in their consulting rooms. The multi-stream programme spans clinical updates across chronic disease, cardiology, diabetes, respiratory, dermatology, mental health, women's and child health, musculoskeletal medicine, minor procedures and preventive care, alongside sessions on practice management, digital health, workforce wellbeing and the evolving primary care landscape in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Delegates can expect a mix of plenary lectures, concurrent sessions and interactive hands-on workshops led by New Zealand and international faculty drawn from academic general practice, hospital specialties and community care. The medical exhibition runs alongside the scientific programme and gives attendees direct access to pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, diagnostic providers, digital health vendors, professional colleges and training organisations serving primary care.
Held in Christchurch at the height of the South Island winter, the conference is also a chance to combine high-quality continuing medical education with a memorable visit to the Southern Alps, Canterbury and the surrounding ski fields and wine regions. Te Pae Christchurch is a purpose-built convention centre in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance of hotels, restaurants and the Avon River precinct.
Whether you are a rural GP looking to refresh your clinical toolkit, a practice nurse building broader scope of practice, a registrar preparing for fellowship, or a practice owner navigating primary care reform, South GPCME 2026 offers a focused, collegial environment to learn, connect and be re-energised for the year ahead.
