Egypt GastroHep 2026 combines the 27th Workshop on Therapeutic Endoscopy & Hepatology with the 29th Annual Postgraduate Course, running 10–12 December 2026 at Misr International Hospital in Cairo. The pairing of a live-endoscopy workshop with a structured postgraduate course has been the format's signature for nearly three decades, and it remains one of the most practically oriented gastroenterology meetings in the region.
The defining element is real-time streaming of live cases from the endoscopy suites at Misr International Hospital directly into the main hall. Operators perform therapeutic procedures while narrating their decision-making, and the audience can question technique, device choice and bail-out strategy as the case unfolds. Typical live content spans ERCP and biliary intervention including difficult cannulation and stone extraction, endoscopic ultrasound and EUS-guided drainage, endoscopic haemostasis for variceal and non-variceal bleeding, stenting of luminal strictures, and advanced resection techniques such as EMR and ESD.
The postgraduate course provides the structured counterpart, working systematically through hepatology and luminal gastroenterology: viral hepatitis and the Egyptian elimination experience, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis and portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma, inflammatory bowel disease, functional gastrointestinal disorders and gastrointestinal oncology.
Hands-on training sessions and crash courses run alongside both strands, giving trainees supervised time on models and simulators for the techniques demonstrated in the live theatre — an unusual level of practical access for a meeting of this size.
The audience is broad: consultant gastroenterologists and hepatologists, endoscopists, hepatobiliary surgeons, internal medicine physicians, fellows and endoscopy nursing staff, drawn largely from Egypt but with substantial regional attendance.
The organisers publish the programme, expert faculty, sponsor list, previous-edition archives and registration details on the official website, and can be reached directly by phone or email for group registration.
