The 14th Congress of the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM 2027) takes place from 3 to 5 June 2027 at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Istanbul, Türkiye, under the theme "United we thrive". The organisers expect more than 2,000 reconstructive microsurgeons from over 80 countries, making it the principal global gathering of the specialty in 2027.
The congress is chaired by Prof. Bülent Saçak, with Prof. Mehmet Armangil chairing the Scientific Committee and Prof. Zeynep Akdeniz Doğan as co-chair. The international scientific committee is exceptionally broad, with more than 80 surgeons representing Türkiye, the United States, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Brazil, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Romania, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Peru, Colombia, Egypt, Sudan, Israel, Finland, Denmark and the Czech Republic — an indication of the truly global reach of the meeting.
The scientific programme spans keynote lectures, expert panels, hands-on workshops and free-paper sessions covering the full breadth of reconstructive microsurgery: free tissue transfer, supermicrosurgery, lymphatic and lymphedema surgery, breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, extremity and hand reconstruction, peripheral nerve surgery, gender-affirming surgery and emerging technologies in the field. Beyond the three main congress days, WSRM Week runs from 31 May to 6 June 2027 with pre- and post-congress hands-on courses, symposia, summits and special educational events, including a multidisciplinary symposium on gender-affirming surgery on the closing day. These special sessions require separate registration.
A call for abstracts is open. Submission opened on 1 September 2026 and closes on 1 December 2026 at 23:59 GMT+3, with acceptance notifications by 28 February 2027. Abstracts must be in English, structured as title, background, methods, results and conclusion — or background, case/technique and conclusion for case reports and technical innovations — and must not exceed 300 words. Each presenting author may present a maximum of two abstracts, and abstracts not selected for oral presentation may be offered a poster slot. Submissions are made through the official online system; e-mailed abstracts are not accepted, and at least one presenting author of an accepted abstract must register and attend in person.
Registration is open. Early-bird rates apply until 15 March 2027 (physician EUR 875, resident and allied health professional EUR 400, surgeons from developing countries EUR 500), rising for regular and on-site registration, with a medical student rate of EUR 300 on site. Fees include the scientific programme, congress materials and the welcome reception, and include 20% VAT. The congress is organised with Valör Congress Organizations as the official secretariat.
