Overview
The 4th International Workshop on Myelodysplastic Syndromes & Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (iwMDS & iwMPN) takes place 1–4 October 2026 in Washington, DC, USA. The workshop brings the world's leading clinical researchers in MDS and MPN together in a single focused programme covering diagnosis, disease biology, clinical trial design and evolving treatment standards.
Scientific program
The 2026 agenda opens with an iwMPN working group session on endpoints in MPN — a full afternoon dedicated to what actually constitutes meaningful clinical benefit:
- Where have we been and where are we going — the historical evolution of MPN treatment from cytoreduction to precision medicine (Ronald Hoffman) and the current endpoint landscape in MPN clinical trials (Prithviraj Bose)
- Patient-centered outcomes in MPNs — moving beyond spleen volume and symptom scores, with real-world evidence (David Shoultz)
- Regulatory considerations in endpoint development — endpoints in MPN and MDS from a regulatory perspective (Tanya Wroblewski, FDA)
- Aligning scientific innovation, patient experience and regulatory standards — molecular endpoints (Jennifer O'Sullivan), integrating symptoms and quality of life (Ruben Mesa), durability of spleen response (Francesco Passamonti) and anaemia benefit
- Two moderated panel discussions chaired by Claire Harrison, John Mascarenhas and Ruben Mesa
Subsequent days run parallel MDS and MPN scientific tracks covering molecular classification, clonal haematopoiesis and progression, lower-risk and higher-risk MDS therapy, transplant decision-making, myelofibrosis and polycythaemia vera management, and emerging agents. Co-chaired by Claire Harrison (Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital), Amer Zeidan (Yale Cancer Center) and John Mascarenhas (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai), with Valeria Santini (University of Florence).

More than 60 invited faculty from MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Mayo Clinic, Dana-Farber, Stanford, Moffitt, Weill Cornell, Massachusetts General Hospital, the University of Oxford, the University of Toronto, the University of Florence, the University of Aachen, plus regulators from the FDA and representatives of the MPN Research Foundation and MPN Advocates Network.
