The Riyadh Nephrology Club returns on Tuesday, 6 October 2026 at the Crowne Plaza RDC Hotel & Convention Center, Riyadh, starting at 8:30 PM. The evening is organised by the Saudi Society of Nephrology & Transplantation (SSNT) with its interest groups — the Saudi Pediatric Nephrology Society (SPNS), the Saudi Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Society (SHIS) and the Saudi Glomerulonephritis Group (SGNG).

This case-based club night pairs a senior consultant moderator with a nephrology fellow in two parallel tracks — one adult, one pediatric — and focuses on one of the hardest questions in everyday glomerular practice: when do serology results tell us enough, and when do we still need tissue?
Adult Nephrology — "Between Serology and Histopathology: Two Sides of the Same Story"
Autoantibody panels (ANCA, anti-GBM, anti-PLA2R, complement, anti-dsDNA and others) now allow many glomerular diseases to be suspected — and sometimes treated — before a biopsy. This session walks through real cases where serology and renal pathology agreed, and where they did not, and what that means for diagnosis, prognosis and treatment choice.

Pediatric Nephrology — "Is Biopsy Indicated?"
Kidney biopsy in children carries specific risks and practical challenges. Using pediatric cases (nephrotic syndrome, hematuria, suspected lupus nephritis and more), this session discusses current indications, when a biopsy can safely be deferred, and how the result changes management.
