"Periodontology at the Core of Multidisciplinary Dental Care" is an SSPI Scientific Activity held by the Saudi Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry — an International Associate Member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) — on Friday 16 October 2026 from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Crowne Plaza Alsalam, Jeddah. The scientific day is part of the society's SSPI Reach programme and carries 5 accredited CME hours, with capacity limited to 100 participants.
The day is built around a simple premise: periodontology is not a parallel specialty but the biological foundation on which endodontic, prosthodontic, orthodontic and implant treatment is delivered. Five complementary sessions address complex multidisciplinary cases, endodontic–periodontal diagnostic challenges, periodontal and implant risk assessment, prosthodontically-driven digital implant planning, and integrated clinical decision-making. Clinical cases and interactive discussion demonstrate how coordinated diagnosis, treatment sequencing and interdisciplinary communication improve biological, functional and aesthetic outcomes.
The programme opens with registration at 12:30 and a short introduction to the multidisciplinary scientific day. Prof. Ali Saad Ali Alghamdi — Professor and Consultant in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, King Abdulaziz University, and CEO of UniDents Clinic — presents the multidisciplinary treatment approach for the management of complicated cases. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Refky, Consultant Endodontist, and Dr. Yasser Mohammed Alghamdi, Consultant Endodontist, founder of The Route to the Root and Head of Dental Home Healthcare at KFAFH, follow with endodontic–periodontal lesions: the misconceptions, the diagnostic pitfalls that lead to the wrong tooth being treated, decision-making between endodontic therapy, periodontal management and extraction, and when to refer.
After the coffee and prayer break, Dr. Walaa Magdy Ahmed — Consultant Prosthodontist and Implant Dentistry and Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University — presents "Beyond Osseointegration: A Facially-Guided, Prosthodontically-Driven Digital Workflow", taking the case from facial and smile analysis through digital planning to guided implant placement. Dr. Nour Hobani, Assistant Professor at King Abdulaziz University and the University of Pennsylvania, then covers the role of periodontists in the treatment of skeletal discrepancy. The afternoon closes with a panel discussion and a Q&A involving all speakers before the closing remarks.
The activity is aimed at periodontists, implant dentists, endodontists, prosthodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, restorative and general dentists, postgraduate residents, interns and dental students, and other dental professionals involved in multidisciplinary patient care.
Registration is through the society's professional portal. Fees are SAR 100 for SSPI member dentists and free for SSPI member students; SAR 250 for non-member dentists and SAR 100 for non-member students. Seats are limited to 100. The society can be reached on +966 11 500 7275, by WhatsApp, or at info@saudiperio.org. Meridol and Colgate Total support the activity as sponsors.
