Overview
Medical Education Without Borders (MEWB) brings its Hands-on Laparoscopy Course back to Riyadh on 16–17 October 2026. It's a two-day, venue-based workshop held at Saudi German Health (Saudi German Hospital), Riyadh. The course director is Dr Haitham Badr, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology. MEWB is a training platform accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and the National eLearning Centre. Seats are limited.
The course is built for surgeons and trainees who want structured, practical exposure to minimally invasive surgery. It combines didactic lectures with supervised hands-on workshop stations, so participants move from principles to practice over two days.
What the course covers
- A two-day programme of lectures and hands-on workshop sessions
- Training on the use of specialised laparoscopic equipment: towers, insufflation, energy devices, trocars and instruments
- Port placement, safe entry techniques and ergonomics
- Camera navigation, hand–eye coordination and depth perception
- Tissue handling, dissection, suturing and intracorporeal knot-tying drills
- Troubleshooting common intraoperative problems and complications
